Maggie MACHs!
Maggie, a four-year-old border collie owned by Sherry Swanson, earned her MACH Sunday, Nov. 26th, in St. Louis!! Sherry and Maggie went into the weekend with all their points for MACH and 19 QQs. They only needed one more QQ to reach the 20 QQs needed for the big title.
Many of the courses during the weekend were highly technical, and the Q rates were low. On Sunday, Maggie and Sherry ran their first run, and Sherry thought they were clean. Upon exiting the ring, she found out the judge had raised his hand for a refusal. No one present could figure out why the refusal had been called. Sherry went to cool down Maggie thinking there wouldn't be an opportunity for the 20th QQ that day.
However, when she returned to the agility building, she was told by several people that the judge had gone up to the scribe and taken that refusal back! She and Maggie HAD Qed, and if they qualified in their next run, the 20th QQ would be theirs.
The last run of the day was very technical, but Maggie pulled through with a clean run! Sherry wasn't sure it was clean until she heard a friend yelling at her to go get her MACH bar!
So congrats to MACH Maggie and Sherry on this supurb achievement. Also, congrats to Rex Swanson, Sherry's husband, on his part in this Championship. He has been Sherry's handler's handler, rodie, chauffeur, equipment and course builder, and biggest fan. He deserves kudos for Maggie's title as well.
And City Dogs continues to be the ONLY school in Oklahoma City whose students have earned the coveted MACH title.
It's on to MACH2 for Maggie and Sherry!!
