Citydoggers Go to 2008 AKC National Agility Championships

Two Citydoggers and their dogs competed at the 2008 AKC Agility National Championships in Tulsa.  Sally Sheridan and her Golden Retriever Bang and Kristin Kaldahl and her Shetland Sheepdog Aslan both were among the over 700 dog/human teams competing at the prestigious event.

Aslan had a fantastic showing in his second appearance at Nationals. He and Kaldahl qualified in five out of five runs.  They came in first in the state in the Nationals rounds and came in 20th in the Nation.  Kaldahl ran Aslan conservatively the entire weekend.  Aslan competed in 14" in the ISC tourney and 12" at Nationals.

Bang competed in the 20" division and earned a score in all of her runs.  Sheridan and Bang looked like a well oiled machine in Round 1 pulling in a fantastic run.  They earned a score in all five of their runs.  This was Sally and Bang's first Nationals appearance.

"It was so incredible to run 'at home,'" said Kaldahl.  "The support given by our friends was outstanding.  Hearing the loud cheers before and during the runs really imspired me to try harder and do better.  A big thanks to everyone who volunteered or came to watch us run."

Aslan and Kaldahl are already very close to qualifying for the 2009 Nationals, which will be held in North Carolina.  Bang and Sheridan are well on their way to qualifying for next year's Nationals, too.

"I'll miss having all the support next year," Kaldahl said.  "This was one of the best weekends of my life."
